The Secret to Calming Down a Crying Baby

Dr. Robert Hamilton, a pediatrician from Santa Monica, California, has his own trick for stopping a baby from crying— and it probably isn’t something you’ve tried before.

Hamilton, who has been practicing pediatrics for about 30 years, recently shared his technique which he calls “The Hold”.

Hamilton suggests folding the baby’s arms across their front and holding them with one of your hands. Next, grasp the child by the bottom with your other hand, holding the child at a 45-degree angle. Then gently rock the child up and down, or gently shake the child’s bottom back-and-forth.
